UN
report: Settlements squeezing out Palestinians
Israeli
settlements in the West Bank are having a severe humanitarian impact
on rural Palestinian areas, according to a report by the UN Office
for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on 30 August. The
settlements disconnect Palestinians from agricultural land and limit
their movement, restricting access to markets and water resources,
the report, entitled "The Humanitarian Impact of Israeli
Infrastructure in the West Bank," said. In the southern Hebron
Hills area a conflict between Israeli settlers and Palestinians over
land and water resources is apparent. Palestinian residents in
interviews with IRIN described the harsh impact the settlements have
on their daily lives.

shot point-blank range through the cheek, the bullet tearing away a
line of flesh up to the ear and entering the brain.

Reflections
from an Irish Activist in Palestine (Part 3/3)
Jewish
settlers driving by give antagonistic glances and stares, while cars
and bus loads of visitors to the nearby Jewish cemetery and 'tomb' of
the ancient biblical figures of Jesse and Ruth every now and again
have one ruthless passenger who rolls down the window and comments,
'Drop dead!' Being called a 'Nazi' by Jewish settlers is a regular
occurrence here - you just have to get used to it and not get pissed
off.
