Israel: FM Shalom meets with new UNWRA commissioner
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom yesterday held his first meeting with United Nations Works and Relief Agency Commissioner-General Karen Koning Abu Zayd since her appointment in June 2005. The minister congratulated her on her appointment and said Israel has already felt an improvement in the atmosphere.

Palestinians slam Israeli call to end UN mandate in Gaza
Senior Palestinian officials on Tuesday slammed an Israeli call to suspend activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip. Hatem Abdel Qader, a Palestinian legislator, told reportersthat Israel attempts to end the UNRWA's mandat e to remove the issue of refugees and their right of return.

IDF troops kill Palestinian teenager near Nablus
Israel Defense Forces troops on Tuesday evening shot dead a Palestinian teenager while firing on a cluster of houses on the slopes of Mount Eival, near the West Bank town of Nablus. The youth was later identified as Muhammad Abu Salha, aged 16.
